	<description><![CDATA[Jeremy擅长用地球化学手段研究大规模构造运动，他最近获得澳大利亚墨尔本大学理学硕士学位并计划2017年开始攻读博士学位。 Click here for the English version. 翻译:何小芳 15年9月，我得到一次在东帝汶欧库西地区进行6周地质填图的宝贵机会。欧库西是是东帝汶的一个县，位于帝汶岛西北部，被印尼西帝汶岛包围。这次野外实习还考察了位于欧库西地区东北部的一个极佳山地露头——欧库西火山的枕状玄武岩，这也构成我硕士阶段部分研究——帝汶岛的新构造运动特征 （&#60;15 Ma）,这个造山带相对比较年轻，由澳大利亚大陆架和班达弧（Banda Arc）俯冲带杂岩体碰撞形成。 我们的旅程从东帝汶的首都——帝力（Dili）开始。同行的有我的导师，Steven Boger教授，硕士生Jack Percival和东帝汶的地球物理学家兼当地向导Francesca Joe Magno。我们一行四人被叫做帝汶小分队。一开始我想要赶快到欧库西开始野外实习，但很快我就意识到当地那种休闲和等待的氛围，没有人会急急忙忙将某件事做完。我管这种现象叫“帝汶时间”。就这样，我们的第一周是在和东帝汶石油地质研究院（IGP）的政府官员的会议中度过的，因为需要从印尼大使馆获得签证才能开车穿越西帝汶。这件事很让人沮丧，因为如果我们一开始直接飞到印尼，就可以直接拿到免费的落地签。相反，我们到了以后不得不在前一天下午排很长时间的队拿一个号，第二天再用这个号去排队递交签证申请。这就是“帝汶时间”的一个典型例子。 当然了，我们也没有浪费在帝力等待的时间。利用空闲时间对帝力附近的地质进行了勘察，主要是为了熟悉当地的主要地质构造单元，因为这些岩石和澳大利亚维多利亚州的浊积岩序列相当不同！Joe告诉我们在东帝汶的官方语言德顿语中,“外国人”叫“malae”，由于我是亚裔，有时候也会被叫做“China-malae”。于是我们决定做一些“malae”的事情，比如去海滩，吃炸鸡汉堡。除此之外，Joe还提醒我们要注意“maningas”——当地女人用来迷惑男性的一种伏都教巫术。 等签证期间有几天的空闲时间，于是我们向东去了东帝汶的第二大城市——包考。这里曾经有关于枕状玄武岩的报导。帝汶的道路有点奇怪，一旦出了首都地区，道路上的沥青就少了很多，所以去包考的路上花费了不少时间。包考和帝力相比小了许多，坐落在由年轻的灰岩地体组成的丘陵上，天然的矿泉水流经市区。我们徒步几个小时，穿越了沿着蓝水晶沙滩的一片利刃般锋利的灰岩，最后发现了枕状玄武岩，并向下爬采了一些样品。 经过这次在包考探索的成功经历，我们回到帝力，拿到印尼签证，就准备出发！我们开车到达印尼边境海岸，在Batugade的客房住宿了一晚，在此之前还在声名狼藉的巴里布（Balibo）停靠了一下。第二天一早，和其余随行人员——两个来自IGP的东帝汶地质学家Joao Paulo Soares Dos Reis 和 Albino Da Silva汇合以后，我们就开始穿越边境。 经过欧库西火山的壮观场面，我们从维尼港口（Wini）穿越了边境。经过数小时的签证申请和漫长的排队，最终能到达欧库西开始这次野外实习的主要任务，真是让人松了一口气。 到达的头一天，我们开车在附近转了转，并和团队里的当地人探索了附近的小村落。他们带我们到欧库西当地一个比较出名的地质点——活泥火山区。我以前从来没有见过泥火山，但是围着喷涌的泥浆跳舞的经历简直太有趣了。尽管我认为这些冒泡的泥浆对研究火山活动有重要意义，但他们告诉我们这些泥浆并不高温。我的担忧很快消失了，因为我用最过时但有效的触摸方法，对这些泥浆的温度进行了测试。团队其中一个人（人名请忽略）发现地表有的地方仅由很薄的泥壳构成，结果他的整个腿陷进了泥里，还差点丢了人字拖。不一会儿，又有另外一个团队成员掉进了齐腰的泥潭，不过幸好有两个人在旁边及时把他拉了出来。“帝汶小分队”对于这次实习的零伤亡记录感到十分自豪。 娱乐和游戏方面，我们第二天开始了正式野外工作，观察了欧库西的枕状玄武岩露头。这个岩石组合露头出现在欧库西东北部，从海岸线一直延续到海拔1200米以上。岩墙的侵入和风化作用使地势变得崎岖陡峭，再加上山上覆盖茂密的荆棘，导致我们徒步的时间大大增加。 在欧库西地区，许多村民都只会说当地方言拜肯诺语（Baikeno）。我们和当地人的基本互动从我们的欧库西本地向导Julio Boquifai开始，他先和当地村民交谈，把拜肯诺语翻译成德顿语，我们的东帝汶向导再把德顿语翻译成英文。如果我们要表达什么，也得把这个相反的过程经历一遍。这样导致交流变得很复杂，我们怀疑当那些本地人大笑的时候，多多少少有些以讹传讹的情况发生。 在野外快结束的某天，我想登上欧库西火山的最高点，看看卫星图显示的颜色变化的准高原。原本我们计划了一整天的徒步，但是，并不是所有的人都做好了充分准备。队伍一开始有九个人，包括邻村的一个男孩作为我们的本地向导。才爬到第一个山坡，就有几个东帝汶的队员因为担心自己的休闲鞋和有限的水储备撑不了一整天，决定返程。很快有更多的人选择了打退堂鼓，到最后只剩下Steve和我。尽管这样，我们还是决定继续前行，在烈日炎炎下攀爬数小时之后，终于成功登顶。但是除了一路野外都在观察的古老枕状玄武岩以外别的什么都没发现。尽管不尽如人意，但至少看到了一览众山小的美景。下山的过程更为艰辛，因为东帝汶的烈日一路炙烤，我们带的水也越来越少。当回到来时的第一个山脊，我们忘记了这个坡有多陡，再加上山上松散的枕状玄武岩像滚珠一样。下山途中听到一群狗响亮的叫声，它们和一个当地男子光脚跑上这个陡坡：在追一只成年猴子，直到在山上仅有的几棵大树之一附近把它包围起来。这个男子用一块橙子大小的石块，正对猴子头部，一击即中，猴子直接被打倒在地上。这个男人的小孩向战利品跑去，用石块再狠狠敲打了猴子几下，确保将其杀死。我们又渴又累，看到这一幕却是又惊又呆。幸好他们对我们还算友好，给我们指了一条下山的路––沿着猴子的血路！终于下到山脚，发现队伍的其他成员们正悠闲地和村民们吸着新鲜椰子汁，喝着咖啡呢！ &#160; 接下来的野外实习就是在欧库西地区各种不安全的小路上来来回回，以及在干涸的河道上坡下坡，基本是车能开多远就开多远。甚至有一次一个当地司机用他的挖掘机给我们开辟了一条新路。因为这里绝大多数的地方都是自给自足的农场，所以只有很简单的基础设施。但我们一路经过的村庄，村民们都十分友好，一个农民甚至爬上自家椰子树摘椰子给我们当下午茶点。小孩们通常见到我们“malae（外国人）”招手示意，都会大叫“先生，先生”。还有一些小孩会用各种形式的“早上好（bondia）”和“下午好（botardi）”跟我们打招呼。后来我们干脆就把我们的越野车叫“Botardi先生”。 我们住宿的旅馆提供早晚餐。早餐主要是鲜烤面包卷夹煎蛋，搭配松软的热薯条，甜甜圈，炸香蕉和一些本地的菜肴，还有现煮的“东帝汶”咖啡。午餐内容通常差不多，但我们自己搭配了从帝力带来的澳洲咸味酱（Vegemite）。几个当地人尝试之后都不太喜欢，于是这个酱很快就被叫做“keiju-malae”，意为“外国人的奶酪”。野外途中，如果附近有小餐馆，我们就会停下来喝杯热可乐，吃点炸鱼、各式各样的猪肉和米饭。这里有一种叫 “Beng-Beng” 的印尼巧克力威化饼，是常见而且很受欢迎的小吃。晚餐的话，通常招待我们的都是东帝汶的美食盛宴。这种菜系融合了马来、印尼、葡萄牙和中国料理的口味，还有最受钟爱的木瓜花芽和炸鸡，当然，还有松软的热薯条。 随着野外考察接近尾声，大家都有些伤感，大家在这里都度过了十分欢乐的时光，而且采集了一系列的样品做分析测试。在我们收拾行囊说再见之前，大家都不忘拿一个印有欧库西地区特色花纹的东帝汶纺织品taisI。我们安排了一辆夜班渡轮带着两辆四驱车返回帝力。队伍中的有些人可以坐在正儿八经的乘客区域，但是我和另外几个人不得不在下面停车的地方站着，当时还以为个好玩的想法。整个底层混杂了各种小轿车，卡车，互相嗷叫的水牛，打架啼鸣整夜不休的公鸡，以及像俄罗斯方块一样挤在缝隙中睡觉的乘客。渡轮的行驶速度堪比龟速，总共不到150公里的距离，开了整整21个小时––典型的“东帝汶时间”。随着夜深，地板上渐渐增多的动物粪便发出刺鼻的味道。一些当地人喝着从油桶里倒出来的自酿棕榈酒tua sabo，我为了能够睡上一晚，也喝了几口。后来我不得不去“Botardi先生”车顶去避难，然后几个当地人加入我，我就用学的一点德顿话和他们聊了一整晚。睡在凉爽的金属车顶，是从渡轮的闷热潮湿中解脱的好方法。 东帝汶––这个政治上和地理上都很年轻的国度，非常值得去旅游度假。我的这次野外是我硕士生涯的一个亮点，虽然现在已经完成了硕士论文，但是我知道，那里还有更多的地质问题等着人们去研究! &#160;]]></description>
